Beliș Lake
Lake Beliş-Fântânele belongs to the category of artificial reservoirs, being located at the confluence of the Gilăului Mountains (east), the Vlădeasa Mountains (west) and the Mare Mountain (south), Cluj county. It has an area of 9.8 square km and a length of 13 km, being located at an altitude of 990 m. The main purpose of the development is the production of electricity, this dam ensuring the necessary flow for the Mărişel hydroelectric plant.
Between the years 1970-1974, the villages located on the Someşului Cald valley were displaced, people being forced to leave their households. In dry summers, when the flow of the lake is very low, you can see the ruins of the church in Giurcuţa de Jos.
